      • “Strategy is the art of navigating an ocean of uncertainties, through archipelagos of certainties.”

        Edgar Morin, Method

      • Knowledge

        At Ruizia, we understand the world through knowledge: a complex process that connects facts, the people who produce them, and the contexts in which they are embedded. This approach takes into account perceptual errors, cultural biases and paradigms, while remaining open to revision.

        Through this approach, we produce robust analyses of island systems that inform and strengthen our interventions.

        Regional Research & Innovation Systems in the EU Outermost Regions

        We analyse regional R&I systems in the EU Outermost Regions through:
        • mapping stakeholders and their dynamics;
        • analysing their integration into European research and innovation networks;
        • comparing their performance in terms of local development and integration into global value chains
        Section image

        Island Socio-Ecosystem Dynamics

        We are particularly interested in:
        • the environmental history of plantation islands;
        • the contribution of islands to the development of modern science.
